Daat's 25th anniversary marks a truly unique milestone that most companies never reach. Over the past 25 years, Daat has created a legacy - the unique Coolit-family of CFD software for electronics cooling that helped fuel the development of ever hotter and more complex electronics. The Coolit's award-winning intuitive interface put new users in charge within hours of installation. Occasional users loved it too: no retraining was required. As a result CFD, once the domain of PhDs with supercomputers, became the tool of engineers with a laptop and an undergraduate-level knowledge of fluid mechanics and thermal analysis.

We have accomplished a lot during the past 25 years in large part thanks to you, our customers. Your needs and feedback guided our development efforts. Coolit really is easy-to-use. The whole process is very, very visual and intuitive.

Despite being a first time Coolit user, I quickly mastered the software. Coolit's user-friendly interface made it easy to quickly ramp-up my modeling skills.

Coolit is specifically designed for electronics applications and it is incredibly easy to set up a model and get an answer. By catching problems early in the design cycle, we save tens of thousands of dollars and avoid months of delay.

We calculated over 60 complex models, studying the impact of component placement, fan properties, and vent properties, sizes, and locations. In the end, more than one design parameter combination met the specifications and we were able to supply the customer with several workable designs from which to select based on manufacturing costs, aesthetics, or other criteria.

With Coolit, I could start a new model from scratch, have it up and running, and deliver results in the same day. The software was at least five times faster than what we had used.

You can pick up Coolit after 6 months of non-use and start building your model; there is no re-learning curve.

We designed several experiments for single and multicomponent PCBs to be used against CFD predictions. All experiments were carefully instrumented to eliminate potential uncertainties. CFD calculations by people who did not know results of measurements to guard against experimenter bias. Coolit predictions were within 1% of the measured.

It only took me one day to create a model for a large card cage; it would have taken 3-4 times that with other packages we used.

Throughout the design process Coolit's ease-of-use proved crucial. The electronics engineers who undertook the thermal design had no training in CFD. But Coolit's intuitive interface quickly helped the designers get up to speed.

CoolitDC requires only a laptop and is 10x faster and just as accurate as CFD packages run on much larger computers. It is ideal for applications requiring numerous iterations.

Coolit rapidly calculates "what if" scenarios and identifies the best case configuration in a fraction of the normal design time. When test data were compared against the Coolit predictions, the results were within 5%." In some cases, prototypes are eliminated entirely.

To minimize the design safety factor and hence the cost and critically important weight of satellite communication equipment, Coolit predictions were benchmarked against experiment. Experimental measurements taken every 60 seconds over 4 hours. The predicted temperatures matched measured to within 3%. Such accuracy is expected to eliminate several design iterations per each new design and reap significant savings in development time and expense.

The benchmark test not only confirmed the accuracy of Coolit's predictions, but also demonstrated the software's excellent performance in analyzing complex designs. The results identified the optimum airflow design and confirmed that both designs would not exceed their temperature limits.

With Coolit you can save weeks, if not months of work, depending on the complexity of the design and how intuitive you are in developing the initial cooling scheme.

By eliminating physical prototyping Coolit shaved over 25% off the development cycle: 3-4 weeks off the 12 week cycle.

Since adopting Coolit, the company has begun simulating even inexpensive components it previously could not economically justify analyzing. This new information has resulted in more reliable and better-performing designs. This allowed us to reduce reliance on physical prototypes and with an accompanying reduction in product development time and costs.

We greatly value Coolit's exceptionally short learning curve. Our group does not have a dedicated thermal designer, and when a new project comes along, engineers can start using the software immediately - no training or retraining is required.
