The communication world today is growing fast and the demand for
more connections is growing rapidly. Higher speed and more capabilities
are the demand for company which wants to compete in this business.
To answer this demand, more electronics must be placed in smaller
volumes/areas. At the same time the performance and heat dissipation
of components are increasing.
Charlotte's Web and CAS used Coolit to design a communication cabinet
with 3.5 kW heat dissipation. It had to be designed as small as
possible.
During the design process Coolit enabled us to examine many cooling
options before reaching the final prototype stage. Coolit also pointed
hot areas on the PWA and guided the electrical engineers in correct
distributing the heat dissipation.
Coolit optimization enabled us to use at least 20% fewer fans than
originally planned. This was achieved by creating the optimal distribution
of airflow in the system by judicious placement of components, boards,
vents and fans. All this was accomplished without building a single
physical prototype. Coolit enabled us to bring the product out to
market much faster than planned and save thousands of dollars compared
with conventional design and testing on physical prototypes. The
system has been already built and showed excellent agreement with
Coolit predictions.
